Since 1978, Michael has been handling major education cases. At the Justice Department, he worked on major school desegregation cases in Chicago, Cleveland, Charleston, South Carolina and Indianapolis. At the same time, he did some of the earliest cases vindicating the rights of classified, special needs children who were then often isolated and segregated in deplorable conditions.

In the 1980's, Michael continued to work on both broad systemwide cases which challenged educational inequality in Yonkers, Jacksonville, Florida, Boston, St Louis and other major cities, but also began working for individual clients whose rights were being offended by school districts in this region.

Since 1986, Michael has done more special education cases than any lawyer in the State of New York and this continues to be a major interest of our firm. In addition, we have handled many student discipline cases and represented children subjected to bullying.
